Routine & complicated dental extractions
Some teeth can be difficult or complex to extract, particularly wisdom teeth or buried roots. It is important when undergoing such procedures to maintain as much bone as possible, particularly if you require a dental implant afterwards. At The York Dental Suite we use piezosurgery technology to allow bone preserving extractions and a more comfortable procedure for our patients. Piezosurgery works in a ultrasonic way and reduces the need for more traditional extraction methods.
Wisdom Teeth
Removal of wisdom teeth carries risks and these can be more effectively predicted with our 3D cone-beam in house scanner. Our Consultant Oral Surgeon has over 20 years of experience and is able to discuss the options for treatment.
Socket Preservation and Bone Regeneration
Once a tooth has been removed the bone in that area will start to shrink away and may cause issues with denture design and bridges. It is also vital to maintain bone for placement of implants. At The York Dental Suite we are able to offer regeneration of tooth sockets immediately after extraction to optimise the site for any prosthesis at a later date.
Surgical Root Treatment (Apicectomy)
Some teeth have infection around the root even after a root filling. In some cases it is appropriate to remove this infection surgically at the root tip and seal it up. This prevent further infection and can allow the tooth to be saved.
Lumps & Bumps
We are able to see patients who have non-suspicious lumps and bumps in their mouth, or white patches which require a biopsy. These can be removed by our Consultant Oral Surgeon and sent for analysis with a Consultant Pathologist ensuring rapid results.
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)
At The York Dental Suite we believe in optimising our patients experience and particularly after oral surgery we want to ensure that patients heal effectively and are less likely to suffer post-operative problems such as infections or dry sockets. By taking a sample of blood from the patient we are able to use this to form a clot which can be placed at the site of surgery to ensure optimal healing. This advanced technique allows more rapid healing and less post-operative swelling and is of particular benefit for those patients on medications which may affect healing.
