We routinely perform mouth cancer screenings during regular dental examinations. Mouth cancer, like other cancers, is most treatable when caught in the early stages and as your oral health professionals, we’re positioned to detect and diagnose the disease.
Your mouth cancer screening will form part of your regular dental examination and will simply involve checking for red or white patches in the mouth, abnormal swelling in the mouth or neck, as well as any other abnormalities.
If we see or find anything that causes us concern, we’ll ask you back for a follow-up appointment, so that we can keep an eye on the situation. Alternatively, we might refer you on to a specialist or our local hospital.
